The VCU Humphrey Alumni Fellows are implementing a Hubert H. Humphrey Collaborative Alumni Project. The Fellows conducted a Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP) rapid assessment of synthetic drug use in Uganda, Togo and Nigeria between July and August 2024. This study was possible with financial support from the U.S. Department of State and Institute of International Education (IIE), Washington DC.
The study aimed at assessing the current levels of awareness, perceptions, and behaviours related to synthetic drug use among various populations in the respective countries. The study also aimed at gathering critical data that can inform policy-making, enhance preventive strategies, and support the development of targeted interventions to address the growing challenge of synthetic drug use in the respective countries.
A virtual webinar to disseminate the findings from the study across the three countries is scheduled on Wednesday 25th September 2024 at 15:00 East African Time (EAT) and 8:00 Eastern Standard Time (EST).
